These boots are made with 80-percent recyclable or reusable materials and are designed to be taken apart when you are done with them - you can take them back to a Timberland store to be recycled. Learn more with a video at their website.
Timberland’s EarthKeepers are comfortable and fit the average foot very well. They are OK for hiking and are a good-looking boot but I can’t say there was anything special about these boots. The traction was OK, the fit was OK, but I got the sense that these boots are more for looks and marketing to tree huggers than performance. I have owned a pair of Timberland hiking boots before. Though the boots were very narrow for my feet, they performed better and had much better traction than these boots, which by all appearances, will have a much shorter life span.
Even on the first try, I noticed wear on the soles, which would be forgivable if they were made from 100% recycled rubber, but it’s only 42%.
All-in-all, these boots seem like more of a fashion statement than a work boot or hiking boot. And if they are your everyday walking boot, don’t expect the soles to last too long.
